Be Lezo Like - Remembering the life and legacy of former UA hurdler Lezo Urreiztieta

Since 2014, friends and family gather for an annual camping trip to remember their son, brother, cousin, and teammate.

Sports have a remarkable way of forging connections, both on and off the track.

In Tucson, the legacy of Lezo Urreiztieta, a standout hurdler and Canyon Del Oro alum continues to inspire. As we approach what would have been his 31st birthday, we take a closer look at his remarkable story and what it means to be Lezo like.

Since 2014, friends and family gather for an annual camping trip. Although that sounds like any other planned outing, this one is different. It commemorates the passing of their friend, brother, cousin – and many other things that Lezo Urreiztieta was and still is, to those who knew him.

December 2023 marked the tenth anniversary of his passing.
