First HiRISE full-resolution view of Mars. It provides a never-before-seen 26-centimeter-scale image of the planet.
Mars book 5
Scarps at the edge of the North Polar layered deposits are the sites of the most frequent frost avalanches that HiRISE has imaged. In the northern spring, frost avalanches are common and HiRISE monitors these scarps.

These layers in Cross Crater are unusually rich in the minerals alunite and kaolinite. Alunite deposits have been mined (on Earth) for aluminum, and kaolinite is mined for a wide range of uses including ceramics, medicine and paint.

This olivine-rich bedrock is pervasively fractured. Most of the fractures are high-standing ridges because the areas around them are less resistant to erosion.

The descent of the Phoenix Mars Lander, May 2008. A dramatic oblique view catches the Phoenix lander descending on its parachute, the first time that one spacecraft has photographer another before it has landed. Although it appears that Phoenix is descending into Heimdal Crater, it is actually about 20 kilometers in front and 13 kilometers above the surface.
