Marshall Flippo and his wife started square dancing in 1951. He took up square dance calling in a chicken coup on a friend’s farm the following year. His friends call him Flip or Flippo, only his mother called him Marshall. Flippo is a recognized legend in square dance history, and he’s still “calling” where he now lives in southern Arizona. He’s the resident caller at Rincon Country West Resort where he can be found sharing his unique style with local dancers. We caught up with him at the Canoa Hills Social Center in Green Valley, Arizona.
