House Bill 2543 clarifies the current state law that a political subdivision of the state, like a city or county, cannot pass regulations of firearms that come into conflict with existing state law relating to the purchase, storage, licensing, and registration of the weapon. The proposal is sponsored by Representative David Gowan (R), Senator Frank Antenori (R), and Senator Al Melvin (R) all of whom are from Pima County.
The full House approved HB 2543 on March 29th on a 36-21 vote.
