Tucson Bishop leaving for Detroit

He will become Archbishop in late March.

Pope Francis has been named Tucson Bishop Edward Weisenberger as the new Archbishop of Detroit.

On Tuesday, Weisenberger was introduced at a news conference in Detroit where he said he appreciated his time in Tucson.

"Tucson has just been marvelous. Seven years there have really been joyful for me. An incredible people in Southern Arizona on the border there with Mexico," he said.

His final mass in Tucson will be celebrated on March 2nd and his installation in Detroit will take place on March 18.

Weisenberger was named Bishop in Tucson in 2017. The Diocese did not announce a timetable for his replacement.
